Every​ bearded dragon needs a heat source in order to

thrive and bask. This heat spot should be in the range of 90-110 degrees Fahrenheit to replicate their natural habitat. In the image below, my bearded dragon is basking under a infrared but set at 90 degree's by a temperature monitor called a Habistat. She also has a UVB strip light. Which is essential for bone growth and calcium absorption. If a dragon is not provided with one of these bulbs they are at risk of developing

Basking.

metabolic bone disease, this is a degenerate condition where the bones become weak and deformed as a result of not absorbing enough calcium and vitamin D3. The behaviour Willow is showing in this image is typical "Gaping" behaviour. A dragon open's its mouth once it has reached optimum temperature to release some heat and thermo-regulate.
